Book a same-day online vet visit right now

If you're in Florida, New York, or Virginia and you need to see a vet today, RexVet has same-day video appointments most weekdays. $64.99 flat rate, licensed DVM, prescription sent to your pharmacy of choice when medically appropriate. Book at rexvet.org — total time from booking to prescription is usually under 2 hours.

How same-day booking works

  • 1. Visit rexvet.org and click Book Appointment
  • 2. Choose the earliest available slot ($64.99)
  • 3. Fill out a short 5-question health history — takes 3-5 minutes
  • 4. A licensed FL/NY/VA DVM joins the video call — typically 10-20 minutes
  • 5. Prescription sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy
  • 6. Chewy pharmacy ships next business day; CVS/Walgreens often same-day pickup

Best same-day use cases

  • **Allergy flare-up** — Apoquel refill or new script for itching, ear infection, hot spots
  • **Parasite prevention refill** — Simparica Trio, NexGard, Bravecto, Heartgard Plus, Interceptor Plus, Revolution Plus
  • **Anxiety before a stressor** — Trazodone, Gabapentin for storms, fireworks, vet visits, travel, PCS moves
  • **GI upset triage** — Vomiting or diarrhea evaluation; Cerenia oral, metronidazole, bland-diet guidance
  • **Ear or skin infection triage** — Otic drops, topical antifungals, oral antibiotics when indicated
  • **Follow-up questions** — Post-diagnosis check-in on how a treatment is working
  • **Second opinion** — Review another vet's treatment plan

Where same-day telehealth is NOT the right answer

  • **Emergencies** — Bloat, hit-by-car, respiratory distress, seizure, collapse, poisoning — go to a physical ER immediately
  • **Suspected fracture or trauma** — Requires imaging
  • **Anything requiring injections** — Cytopoint, Adequan, Convenia require in-clinic administration
  • **First-time diagnosis of a complex issue** — Cancer workup, heart disease, kidney disease — needs in-person exam + diagnostics
  • **Vaccinations** — Must be administered in person
  • **Dental cleaning** — Requires anesthesia and in-person care

What states we cover for same-day

RexVet is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Florida, New York, and Virginia. Same-day appointments are available in all 3 states most weekdays. Additional states are on our roadmap.

How fast is the prescription actually sent?

  • **During the video visit** — DVM writes the prescription in real time
  • **Sent to pharmacy** — Electronic transmission to Chewy, CVS, Walgreens, or any US pharmacy of your choice within minutes
  • **Ready for pickup** — Local pharmacy typically ready same-day if in stock; call ahead to confirm
  • **Shipped from Chewy** — Next business day standard; overnight available for extra fee

Frequently asked questions

Can I really get a same-day online vet visit today?

Most weekdays yes — RexVet has same-day slots available. Weekends have reduced availability. Book online at rexvet.org; if there's an open slot in the next few hours, you can grab it. If the slots are full, the earliest next-day slot is usually before noon.

How long does the full process take from booking to prescription?

Typically under 2 hours end-to-end. About 5 minutes for the health history, 10-20 minutes for the video visit, and a few minutes for the prescription to reach your pharmacy electronically. Pharmacy pickup depends on their queue (usually within an hour at CVS/Walgreens).

What states does same-day online vet cover?

Florida, New York, and Virginia. Our licensed DVMs can only prescribe for pets whose owners are physically located in FL, NY, or VA at the time of the video visit.

What can be prescribed same-day online?

Oral medications and topical treatments — Apoquel, Simparica Trio, NexGard, Bravecto, Heartgard Plus, Interceptor Plus, Revolution Plus, Trazodone, Prozac, Gabapentin, Cerenia oral, metronidazole, doxycycline, Clavamox, cephalexin, topical steroids, otic drops, ophthalmic drops. Cannot prescribe injectables or controlled substances via telehealth.

Is same-day online vet safe?

Yes — for appropriate use cases (refills, triage, follow-ups, non-emergency issues). Same-day telehealth is NOT appropriate for emergencies, first-time complex diagnoses, or anything requiring hands-on physical exam. If your pet is in distress, go to a physical ER immediately.

What if my pet needs to be seen in person after the video visit?

If the DVM determines your pet needs in-person care, they'll refer you to a local vet or emergency hospital. No additional fee — the $64.99 was the consultation. You still get the DVM's assessment and record of the visit for the receiving vet.

Do you accept walk-ins or is it appointment only?

Appointment only — but same-day slots function similarly to walk-ins. Book the earliest available slot online and you'll be seen shortly after. No physical waiting room; you get a text and email when the DVM is ready.
