Book a weekend video vet visit — $64.99

Your regular vet is closed. Your pet isn't in ER-level trouble, but something's off — the allergy is flaring, the ear is bothering them, they threw up once, or you need a Trazodone script before storm season. RexVet offers same-day Saturday and Sunday video visits in Florida, New York, and Virginia. $64.99 flat, licensed DVM, prescription sent to your pharmacy same-day when appropriate.

Most common weekend RexVet visits

  • **Allergy flare** — Apoquel refill or new script for weekend itching
  • **Ear infection triage** — Head shaking, ear scratching started Friday night — otic drops sent to pharmacy Saturday
  • **GI upset** — One episode of vomiting or diarrhea; Cerenia oral or metronidazole if appropriate
  • **Storm/fireworks anxiety Rx** — Sunday-evening thunderstorms forecast; Trazodone script Saturday afternoon so it arrives before the storm
  • **Parasite prevention refill** — Ran out of Simparica Trio; DVM refills same weekend
  • **Hot spots** — Summer weekend hot-spot flare-up; topical + oral if needed
  • **Anxiety Rx before Monday travel** — Get Gabapentin/Trazodone dosed Sunday for a Monday-morning flight or long drive

What weekend RexVet cannot handle

  • **True emergencies** — Bloat, hit-by-car, respiratory distress, seizure, unconsciousness, poisoning, active bleeding, urinary blockage — go to a 24-hour ER immediately
  • **Vaccinations** — Must be in person
  • **Dental cleaning** — Requires anesthesia + in-clinic
  • **Injectable emergency meds** — Not available via video
  • **Complex first-time diagnosis** — Suspected cancer, heart, kidney disease — need imaging + bloodwork

How weekend booking works

  • 1. Visit rexvet.org and click Book Appointment
  • 2. Choose an available weekend slot — $64.99 flat
  • 3. Fill out a 5-question health history
  • 4. Video visit with a licensed FL/NY/VA DVM (10-20 min)
  • 5. Prescription sent to any US pharmacy — Chewy, CVS, Walgreens, or local independent (many CVS/Walgreens locations are open weekends)

Weekend savings vs weekend ER

  • **RexVet weekend visit**: $64.99 flat
  • **Weekend urgent care vet exam**: $95-200 before treatment
  • **Weekend ER exam** (BluePearl, VCA emergency, hospital-affiliated ER): $150-275 before treatment
  • **When RexVet is right for weekend** — Refills, triage, allergy, anxiety, follow-ups. If your pet is stable, telehealth saves $100-200 vs weekend ER.
  • **When ER is right for weekend** — Real emergency. Don't shop for the cheaper option in a real emergency.

Emergency signals

When to contact a veterinarian

  • True emergency — go to a 24-hour ER immediately, not telehealth
  • Not-sure-if-emergency — RexVet $64.99 weekend video triage can help you decide
  • Suspected toxin — ASPCA Poison Control 888-426-4435 (24/7) FIRST

Frequently asked questions

Are weekend video visits really same-day?

Most weekends yes. Saturday morning and afternoon have consistent availability. Sunday afternoon can fill up — book earlier in the day if your pet needs weekend care.

Will pharmacies fill weekend Rxs from a video visit?

Yes. Chewy pharmacy fills any weekday-received Rx for next-business-day shipping. Many CVS and Walgreens locations are open weekends and fill Rxs same-day. Call your local pharmacy Saturday morning to confirm they're open and can fill.

What if my regular vet is closed all weekend and it's not an emergency?

That's exactly when weekend telehealth is most valuable — you get a licensed DVM's assessment without waiting until Monday. If you're in FL, NY, or VA, book at rexvet.org for $64.99.

Can you prescribe controlled substances via weekend video?

No. RexVet does not prescribe controlled substances (opioids, phenobarbital, some anxiety meds). For chronic-condition refills of controlled substances, you need your in-person vet.

Do you take pet insurance for weekend visits?

Yes — most major providers reimburse RexVet visits including weekend visits (Trupanion, Nationwide, Embrace, ASPCA, Pets Best, MetLife, and 6+ others). Same reimbursement process as weekday visits.

What if my pet gets worse after a weekend RexVet visit?

Go to a 24-hour emergency animal hospital immediately. The video visit will be in your pet's electronic record; the ER can access it via medical records request. Your $64.99 was for the initial assessment; the ER visit is separate.

Which states have weekend availability?

Florida, New York, and Virginia. Licensed DVMs in each state cover their state's weekend slots. Slot availability varies by state and time of day.
