What $64.99 covers at RexVet
- **One video visit with a licensed FL/NY/VA DVM** — typical duration 10-20 minutes
- **Health history review** — you complete a 5-question form before the visit
- **Diagnosis or triage assessment** — DVM's professional evaluation
- **Prescription writing** — when medically appropriate; sent to any US pharmacy
- **Written follow-up notes** — you receive a visit summary by email
- **Referral to in-person care** — if needed, no additional charge
What $64.99 does NOT cover
- **The medication itself** — you pay retail at your pharmacy (Chewy, CVS, Walgreens, local independent)
- **Follow-up video visits** — each new visit is $64.99
- **Diagnostic tests** — bloodwork, imaging, biopsy require in-person care
- **Vaccinations** — must be administered in person
- **Emergency care** — go to a physical ER for emergencies
Cost comparison — RexVet vs typical FL/NY/VA vet
- **RexVet video visit**: $64.99 flat
- **FL general practice vet exam**: $75-150 before treatment (Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Tampa-Orlando)
- **NY general practice vet exam**: $100-200 before treatment (higher in NYC/Manhattan)
- **VA general practice vet exam**: $75-175 before treatment (higher in Northern Virginia)
- **Emergency ER exam**: $150-250 before treatment
- **Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan**: $30-60/month = $360-720/year fixed
- **Savings on a routine refill visit**: $50-150 per visit vs traditional; $$$ vs ER
When RexVet is dramatically cheaper
- **Monthly allergy refills** — 12 Apoquel refills/year at RexVet: $779.88 in visit fees. At a traditional vet (assuming each refill requires an exam): $900-2,400 in exam fees. RexVet saves ~$120-1,600/year.
- **Parasite prevention year-round** — Quarterly refill visits save $$$ vs quarterly exams
- **Storm/fireworks anxiety scripts** — Get a Trazodone script once for $64.99 vs a full exam every time
- **Second opinion on a diagnosis** — $64.99 vs another $100-200 in-person second opinion fee
- **Triage for "is this an emergency?"** — $64.99 vs $150-250 ER exam if it turns out to not be an emergency
When traditional vet is better value
- **Annual wellness exam + vaccines + fecal** — Bundled at $150-300 in-person; RexVet can't do the vaccines
- **Dental cleaning** — Required in-person + anesthesia
- **Suspected fracture** — Requires imaging
- **Suspected cancer, heart disease, kidney disease** — Requires imaging + bloodwork
- **Anything requiring injections** — Cytopoint, Adequan, Convenia
The non-profit pricing model
RexVet (Rex Vets Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit veterinary telehealth service. Surplus revenue from $64.99 visits is reinvested into subsidized care for pet parents facing cost barriers, plus platform improvements. There are no shareholders, no VC investors expecting a 10x return, and no monthly membership up-charges to please quarterly investor metrics. That's how the price stays at $64.99 flat.

Frequently asked questions
Is $64.99 the entire cost or are there hidden fees?
$64.99 is the entire visit fee. There are no add-ons, no per-Rx fees, no consultation upcharges, no membership fees, no shipping fees for prescriptions (Chewy and other pharmacies charge separately for medication + shipping — that's your retail cost at whichever pharmacy you choose).
Is RexVet actually cheaper than a traditional local vet?
For refills, allergy management, anxiety scripts, and triage — yes, significantly. For a full annual physical + vaccines + fecal in one visit, traditional in-person is often better value because RexVet can't administer vaccines. Best-value pet parents often combine RexVet (refills + triage) with one annual visit at a local vet (physical + vaccines).
Why is RexVet cheaper than other online vet services?
Two reasons. (1) We're a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so surplus revenue doesn't go to shareholders. (2) We chose a single flat $64.99 rate rather than tiered pricing, per-Rx fees, or monthly memberships. Some competitors charge $75-150 per visit plus $25-50 per prescription.
Do you take pet insurance to lower the cost?
Yes — most pet insurance providers reimburse RexVet visits (Trupanion, Nationwide, Embrace, ASPCA, Pets Best, MetLife). You pay $64.99 upfront by credit card; submit for reimbursement afterward. HSA and FSA cards accepted directly.
What if I need multiple prescriptions in one visit?
Still $64.99 — one visit fee, multiple Rxs allowed if all are medically appropriate for the reason you booked. For example: an allergy refill AND a parasite prevention refill in the same visit.
Is $64.99 a promotional rate that will go up?
No. $64.99 is our standard flat rate, not a promo or introductory price. If pricing ever changes, we'll notify pet parents in advance.
Are there any subscription options?
No. RexVet is strictly pay-per-visit. No monthly subscription, no annual plan, no membership. You pay $64.99 only when you book a visit.
