Book an after-hours video vet visit — $64.99

Your workday ended, dinner's over, and now you notice the dog's ear is bothering him or the cat is scratching more than usual. Traditional vet clinics closed at 6pm. RexVet has evening video slots in Florida, New York, and Virginia — $64.99 flat, licensed DVM, prescription sent to your pharmacy same-evening when appropriate.

Why after-hours telehealth works for working pet parents

  • **No time-off request** — See a vet without leaving work or leaving home
  • **No commute** — Video from your couch, kitchen, or home office
  • **No waiting room** — You get a text and email when the DVM is ready
  • **Whole family involved** — Both partners can be on the call together
  • **Kids nearby** — Do the visit while kids do homework in the same room
  • **Overnight-issue prevention** — Get a script before bed so pharmacy fills it next morning

Most common after-hours RexVet visits

  • **End-of-day allergy check** — Kid noticed the dog scratching at dinner; DVM assesses via video, Apoquel Rx sent
  • **Evening ear infection** — Head-shaking started after work; otic drops sent for next-day pickup
  • **Storm-anxiety Rx** — Thunderstorms forecast overnight; Trazodone Rx sent to Chewy for next-morning shipping
  • **GI upset check** — Cat threw up once during dinner; DVM triage — usually monitor at home + probiotics, sometimes Cerenia oral
  • **Post-vet-visit question** — In-person vet visit was Monday, pet not improving as expected — evening video follow-up
  • **Refill of preventives** — Ran out of monthly parasite prevention; video refill takes 10 min
  • **Skin/paw issues** — Paw licking or hot spot noticed while lounging in the evening

What after-hours telehealth cannot handle

  • **Emergencies** — Bloat, hit-by-car, respiratory distress, seizure, unconsciousness, poisoning, urinary blockage — go to a 24-hour ER
  • **Vaccinations** — In-person only
  • **Dental cleaning** — Anesthesia + in-clinic required
  • **Injectable emergency meds**
  • **Anything requiring same-night imaging** — X-rays, ultrasound

How after-hours booking works

  • 1. Visit rexvet.org — most weeknights have evening availability
  • 2. Choose the earliest evening slot ($64.99)
  • 3. Complete a 5-question health history (2-3 min)
  • 4. Video visit with a licensed FL/NY/VA DVM (10-20 min)
  • 5. Prescription sent electronically — Chewy pharmacy ships next business day; local CVS/Walgreens ready for morning pickup

Emergency signals

When to contact a veterinarian

  • True emergency — go to a 24-hour ER, not telehealth
  • Not-sure — RexVet $64.99 evening triage can help you decide
  • Suspected toxin — ASPCA Poison Control 888-426-4435 (24/7)

Frequently asked questions

How late are after-hours slots?

Most weeknights have slots through evening. Availability varies by day of the week and DVM schedule. Book earlier in the evening for the best selection.

Are after-hours video visits more expensive?

No. $64.99 flat rate is the same evening or daytime, weekday or weekend. RexVet does not charge after-hours upcharges.

Will my pharmacy be open to fill the prescription?

Chewy pharmacy accepts electronic scripts 24/7 and ships next business day. Many CVS and Walgreens locations are open late; call yours to confirm hours. Rite Aid and many local independents close earlier — check first.

Can I do the visit after my kids are in bed?

Yes — many pet parents specifically book late-evening slots for this reason. Video visits are quiet and don't wake sleeping kids.

What if the DVM is running behind schedule?

You'll receive a text or email if your slot is delayed. Because there's no physical waiting room, you can go about your evening until the DVM is ready.

Do you take pet insurance for after-hours visits?

Yes — most major providers reimburse RexVet visits regardless of time (Trupanion, Nationwide, Embrace, ASPCA, Pets Best, MetLife, and 6+ others).

What if I need a vet at 2am?

Overnight slots are very limited. For 2am urgent-not-emergency situations, ASPCA Poison Control (888-426-4435) is available 24/7. For 2am emergencies, go to a 24-hour ER animal hospital immediately.
