Solensia for Cats

Solensia is a monthly injection that controls osteoarthritis pain in cats. It's the first FDA-approved monoclonal antibody therapy for feline OA — a major advance for cats since most NSAIDs aren't safe long-term in cats.

Solensia for Cats

Frequently asked questions

How quickly does Solensia work?

Most cats show pain improvement within 7 days, with full effect by the second monthly dose.

Is Solensia safer than NSAIDs for cats?

Yes — cats don't tolerate long-term NSAIDs well (kidney risk). Solensia targets pain at the source without the kidney concerns. It's a major step forward for chronic feline arthritis pain.

How often does Solensia need to be given?

Monthly injection at your vet. Some cats respond to a slightly extended interval after the initial doses.

Can RexVet prescribe Solensia?

Solensia must be administered by a vet (it's an injection). RexVet can review whether Solensia is appropriate and refer to an in-person clinic for the injection.

How do I know if my cat has arthritis?

Signs include: reluctance to jump up or down, stiffness after rest, hiding more, less grooming, less litter box use (if box is high), aggression when touched. A vet exam confirms.
