What Drontal Plus is used for in dogs

  • Roundworm infection
  • Hookworm infection
  • Whipworm infection
  • Tapeworm infection

How it works

The three active ingredients work together to paralyze and kill different worm classes in the GI tract. Worms are then passed through the stool.

Available formulations

Frequently asked questions

How often should I deworm my dog?

Puppies typically need deworming every 2-3 weeks until 12 weeks of age. Adult dogs at risk (outdoor, hunting, multi-pet households) often need quarterly deworming. Many monthly heartworm preventives also include intestinal worm coverage.

Will I see worms after giving Drontal?

Sometimes — you may see dead worms in the stool for 1-3 days after dosing. This is normal and means it's working.

Can RexVet prescribe Drontal?

Yes — with a recent fecal exam confirming worms (or strong clinical suspicion). RexVet can ship Drontal through RexVetRx.

Do I need to repeat the dose?

Often yes — for some worms, a second dose 2-3 weeks later catches worms that were eggs during the first dose. Your vet will advise based on the specific infection.

Should I bring a fresh stool sample to confirm worms?

Yes — a fecal float test is the standard way to confirm worm type and severity. Many vets can do it same-day in-house.
