Solensia Dosage for a 5 lb Cat

Solensia (frunevetmab) is dosed at a minimum of 1 mg/kg subcutaneously once monthly, administered by a veterinarian. Pre-filled syringes come in fixed volumes (0.4 mL = 5.6 mg, 0.7 mL = 9.8 mg) — vets pick the closest fit for the cat's weight. For a 5 lb (2.3 kg) cat, this gives a range that a licensed vet will narrow down based on the indication, your cat's age, kidney/liver function, and any other medications.

Solensia (frunevetmab) is widely used in cats in the 5 lb range, but "safe" depends on the specific cat, not just the weight. Kittens and very small cats have immature liver enzyme systems and are highly sensitive to many medications adult cats tolerate fine. Pill cutting or compounded liquids are often required for accurate dosing. Most adult-cat dosing rules don't apply — pediatric protocols are needed.
